I don't know how I missed this discussion the first time around, but if your wondering what the original discussion was, look at the thread more suggestions here in the suggestions topic... I don't know if commish ever came up with a decision, but I think the whole league should get in and vote on what they think the best solution will be, and leave comments why... You can look at it both ways you wouldn't wanna lose by a few points to a team who has points plugged in for quite possibly their best player (ie QB), but at the same time being that this is a 32 team league that leaves 3 positions on your roster who at one week or another won't score any points, and that kinda sucks...
BTW you can choose more than one answer if you want...I'm sure it'd help if you left a comment then though...

That would be fair since there are only 32 starting QB's and 32 starting K's.

read the thread title. this is only for positions with one fantasy relevant player at that position on a team. this would only apply to qb, K, TE

This poll is not saying if more are in favor for editing a few players that it's gonna change, I'm just curious to see how others view this and maybe persuade a change, all it would be is roughly 9-12 players on 3/4 teams for 6 weeks...I think if one staff were to figure out the avg's and relay that to commish after each week it wouldn't be that hard...but it's not my decision it's just a suggestion...again comments, for or against, help...

I see no reason to change anything !!!! You just have to take your lumps on a bye week!!! If your a smart owner, you go out and get two from those positions listed and let someone else worry about it. Not to mention the players who will lose their jobs and the replacements will be avilable as the season gets under way. I would say... No Way do we change it !!!

I would suggest that awarding an avg. for the position is not going to work. Think about it players with early bye weeks (4 or 5) will only have a couple of weeks numbers to avg. while players with late bye weeks (9 or 10) will have alot more numbers to average. Any one versed in statistics will tell you that an average based upon a larger number of inputs will be more accurate than the average figured using fewer data points (the outliers affects will be reduced). I point this out only to suggest that the one way to provide a completely even playing field is everyone takes their lumps on the bye weeks. Some owners will figure out specific strategies to mitigate the damage but either way bye weeks are a fact of life and *** so long as OUR schedule doesnt have a bye week all teams would face the same issues if no average is awarded.***

ya that would be fair, although it may make it impossible to win on certain weeks. i understand the concern. we'l see what the rest of the league thinks

What if we did a league wide average at QB,K, and TE, based on 2009 stats, that way on bye weeks no one got a 0 for said positions, and it would be even across the board. Or just say QB x amount, K x amount, TE x amount for bye weeks. If every one received the same amount for each said position than it would be fair and still recognize the bye week, and that may be an easy rule to implement in to the new web site, so it auto does it.

I think you have to average the points league wide or maybe the top 10 like Oakland said.

its gettin a bit too complicated guys. the way ur suggesting, a Sh%#ty starter could earn u more points in a bye week than when hes not playing. the only way it would work is to implement that players weekly average to account for whether he is good or bad.

Right, but if we do give it a weekly average it becomes even harder to keep up with. Say on an average a QB in are league scores, just say 30 points, it will give the crappy QB a boost but it will also lower the top tear QB and give an across the board average. If the commish does not mind figuring a weekly average for each individual QB, K, and TE, fine but I am sure the web site will not automatically do this, were as if u just set a rule stating x amount for bye week for set positions it may, yall would know better than me what the new site will and will not do.

I think the thing with that to help commish would be to have another staff member (we have enough) that would figure out those avg's and send them to commish so he just has to plug them in...there are still teams to vote, but at this rate I don't think it will change...it's just gonna suck when your team misses the playoffs by one game, and they lost one of their games by a few points because they had multiple players on bye...and I know every story has two sides, so either way the world's not gonna end...

the across the board avg is not right - if a team loses by a couple points because someone on a bye got more points then they avg weekly.... just unfair - i got lucky with my qb but thats what trades/drafts/free agency are for to improve your team - salary cap leagues are supposed to be level because if you have a bad qb you should have better players else where making up the difference... so how is that fair to give you extra points cause your low scoring qb is on a bye and you get more points because they arent playing that week and under performing... either go with that players weekly avg or no points at all...

yeah i think we have established that we would be giving a player's weekly avg not the league average. anyone who hasnt voted please do, we need a more complete picture of how u guys view this.

i mean we should not put the league avg. because some players deserve more points or less points than the avg. so putting in that players's avg. is the fairest it can be.
