I have many more ideas ,but these will be the last for now.
Right now we can keep 30 players on our roster...which in return will mean that alot of players will be dropped to make cuts. I say that we should use our new Practice squad to hold anything over the max amount we can hold in regular season.
meaning we keep a total of 3 total practice squad players in the offseason, totaling our current max of 30 players. I know your thinking whats the point if the max doesn't change. I think we should implement a cut penalty. I think that if you cut someone from your active roster then you should incure a small cap penalty. I think anyone you cut off the practice squad should be ok. This will encourage/discourage people from automatically signing free agents to the longest contract possible, unless they are sure of them. If you wanna pick someone up ,but figure they might be cut before the season starts, then you should sign them to your practice squad first. If you move someone up from your practice squad, it will make you think about your strategies, because you don't want to incure too many penalties. I think the penalties should remain pretty low, but I think they should be stiff enough to make free agent signing more strategic, and less scooping up anyone just to keep others from getting them. Also, I think it was decided that if you wanted to sign someone to your practice squad , the player couldn't have a roster bonus. I think this will keep the wild RB issues we have to subside. This effectively makes any player that has a Roster Bonus is on the active team. I know im rambling, i hope my idea is clearly being portrayed, if not I will try to explain better.
My thoughts are: If you sign a player to a 5yr contract you should be willing to keep that player til the end of that contract. If you don't, there should be some kind of reprecussion. Think about how it is in the nfl...If a team signs a player, then just drops them the player wouldn't be too happy, his contract was just ended before the agreed deadline...just makes sense to encourage more honest contract signing.
