I suggest the league make an extra contract restructure week at the end of the year where owners can use their remaining cap room to pay a player's RB instead of having to spread the money over several years.
NFL teams also restructure players salaries by giving them more fully guaranteed money in order to tweak the salary cap. For example would a re-build team like St. Louis Rams who are currently (1-8) have an interest in paying the 4M in RB for Daryl Richardson this year instead of having to pay 1M in the coming years where he is hopefully competing.
I hope the suggestion make sense. I have been contemplanting about it for a while.
Best regards
Chief Rasmus, Kansas City

The initiative would also improve the fairness of the league. The current re-structure deal is beneficial for teams with high salaries while this function will be an advantage for teams with low salaries.

This will not be happening this season, as we make these sorts of changes only in the offseason, so all owners have time to plan for any rule changes. Please bring this up again in the offseason, and we will discuss for the 2013 season.

Thanks for the quick response. I totally agere that it should not be implemented before next season. Off-season seems like a good time to discuss the matter.

KC...i like the creative thinking Obviously we try to make changes slow enough, with enough notice to allow owners as much time to strategize how to best make the change help there team. This league depends on well thought out suggestions, to help with the continued improvement, much like the 'live' NFL each season some minor rule changes can be made,,or adjusted...always in the interest of improving the level of competition
